What You Didn't See (Almasy vs. Rejection)
Renaud Cardinal
Time for a shot at a shot for the World Title, Rejection was the first through the curtain and received a mix response. Almasy joined Rejection inside the ring, and Henry Irwonsen signaled for the bell. The cat and mouse action began as Almasy showed no interest in finding himself into the much bigger man’s grasp. A baseball slide between the legs started a flurry of kicks for the Final Fantasy. Trevor Wilson aka Rejection caught the final kick underneath his arm and brought Almasy up into an airplane spin before introducing him into the canvas. The Apex Predator followed up by dropping a big leg across Almasy’s throat. A quick cover only merited a short two count. Rejection had every intention on continuing the offensive, pulling Almasy up by his long, stringy hair and then made a second introduction – this time his knee met Almasy’s grill. The second attempt was thwarted by a nifty, spinning, back leg sweep from the ACW World Champion.Almasy sprang to his feet, bounced off the ropes, and caught a seated Rejection with a dropkick. Not taking a moment to rest, the Final Fantasy slapped an ankle lock onto his writhing opponent. With a burst of power, Rejection eventually contorted his body to face up with Almasy and directed a boot into the champion’s nose. The move effectively knocked Almasy backward, long enough for Rejection to climb to his feet. A charging Almasy ducked underneath a big clothesline, flipped up on the missing clothesline arm, and hooked Rejection into a falling crucifix pinfall. Just a two count! The ACW World Champion popped up and dropped a leg drop, using the ropes as a springboard, of his own across Rejection’s throat. Almasy rolled backward, bounced off the cables, and returned with a baseball slide that cleanly hit Rejection. Quick cover garnered another two count, and was followed with Almasy helping the big man to his feet. A quick hitting, single-arm DDT was rejected by Wilson, who hit a pretty northern light’s suplex. Two count! Oh-so close. Then a bunch of stuff happened, Almasy hit his Jecht Shot II, but Rejection kicked out. A leaping Almasy was off the top turnbuckle with a gigantic powerslam, which led to the following after a hard fought and long lasting match. With Almasy hoisted into the air (powerbomb style), Rejection neared the turnbuckle for his devastating Deep End. Sorry, folks, but your in-flight movie has been changed to a hurricarana. Landing zone? Outside the ring. It was a crash and burn style landing that left both competitors in a heap, but with Irwonsen’s count at five they made it to their feet. Trading strikes was next on the agenda, until a frantic Rejection gained the upper hand and slid into the ring with the ten count nearly up. DING! DING! DING! “I was in on time!” pleaded Rejection to Senior ACW Official, Henry Irwonsen. “Actually, you were, but the time limit has expired. Sorry, son,” Irwonsen replied. And that was that, despite giving Almasy all he could handle, a World Title shot had slipped through The Apex Predator’s grasp. Dejected (not rejected), Rejection headed toward the back, wondering what could have come from such an opportunity. You never know. You never know. Winner: No Contest (Time Limit Draw)
