Or "Hey, brother, can ya spare a light?"July 8
The Lexus pulled up along the curb and then stopped. Trevor shifted to park and killed the ignition.
"You guys always meet in the parking lot?"
"This is where Brian preaches you could say. It's a good place for us to gather."
The three of them, Trevor, Jeremy, and Kati, climbed out of the car. Across the way they could see a small assembly of cars. A few people appeared to be camping out in the parking lot waiting for the next show. Further down was one man sitting on the hood of his car.
"Kati, be a dear and get me a lighter."
She opened the car door and slid back into the passenger seat. She flipped down the ashtray and pushed the lighter in.
"You started smoking?"
"Kinda." Jeremy pulled a pack out from his jacket pocket and started to tap the end against his palm. "She turned me onto these bad boys a while back. They're herbal."
"Does she smoke?"
"No. She had a friend once that smoked them. That or they were clove cigarette's. Apparently those are worse than regular ones though. I can't be too sure anymore how these found their way into my diet. She buys them though."
"You actually need them or anything?"
"I just like the act of smoking."
"Brian smokes now and then. I think it's whenever Sheffield does at this point. Like a chimney those two can be. I hope that's not a problem."
"Trevor, if you tell me it's not a problem then it isn't. It's gonna be that simple here in Montreal."
A click came from the car and Kati appeared again. She handed the lighter over to Jeremy and he lit up. While he did she pulled her coat tighter around her.
"So once we walk through those doors we're officially Minutemen huh?"
"You are right now. I'll give you guys one last chance though to leave. This Thursday is now or never."
From inside her coat Kati pulled out a pair of sunglasses and put them on.
"You know sunset is in like twenty minutes right?"
"Why?" She looked at Trevor stoically. "What are we doing at sunset?"
Jeremy got halfway through his cigarette and flicked it in front of him.
"It's time to soldier up, Trevor. Besides, I already got my clothes made up with your colors. Let's go be Minutemen."
